Software Process Excellence - SPEx

This is my first posting on the blog. I figured that the best way to get this technical blog rolling is by talking about a presentation that I did recently in my company for a Lunch-N-Learn(LNL) for producing better Software. I named the LNL as "Software Process Excellence - SPEx".

Infact I was thinking of a more attractive acronym before SPEx. Since the slides talked about Continuous Integration (CI) I was initially thinking of naming the session as Software Excellence through Continous Integration for which the acronym turned out to be SExCI (hmm sure does sound attractive    ) For professional reasons, I decided to go with SPEx instead of SExCI.

I did 3 LNL sessions for more than 70 people, and the sleep count was only 3!. The following is a summary of what was covered in the presentation

The presentation covered the following

  1. Topics
    1. Complexity Analysis (Cyclomatic Complexity)
    2. Refactoring (Design Patterns)
    3. Unit Tests (Test Driven Development)
    4. Code Coverage
    5. Duplication
    6. Standard Coding Conventions
    7. Documentation
    8. Acceptance Tests/ Customer Tests
